The ASR XL Acetabular System and ASR Hip Resurfacing System are orthopedic hip replacement devices manufactured by DePuy and both were recalled from the worldwide market in August of 2010. There is definitely no doubt about it. DePuy Orthopaedics should issued a recall the moment they knew that their implants were defective. In fact, they should have never released their ASR implants to the market, because they never underwent clinical testing procedures set forth by the Food and Drug Administration in the United States.
